The Way of the Roman Empire

What’s wrong with this country? It’s not just the Democrats. It is both parties. It just so happens that the Democrats are in power and have been in power even under George Bush.
When Bush first cam into office he inherited a recession from Clinton. I did not hear him constantly saying that he inherited it. Obama keep saying this and using the excuse of Bush for his failures.
Look it was inevitable. The man got elected because people wanted to make history. He did not get elected because he was the he is qualified. That is a proven fact over the past 6 plus months and what is happening to this once great country.
Let’s look at the facts:
All during the campaign Obama and Biden screamed that we are in the worst economy since the great depression. For a second time on a Sunday news show Biden said: "The truth is, we and everyone else misread the economy," Mr. Biden no one but you and Obama misread the economy. Obama and Biden were the people who during the campaign kept hammering home we are in the worst economy since the depression. So after spending trillions of dollars you now decide that you underestimated how bad the economy is?
Why not blame Bush for this one too?
Obama is on a spending spree like no other president in our entire history. We are further in debt than ever before. He created the largest deficit than any other president in our history and not a single state run media outlet is calling him on that.
What is the fascination with Obama? This man keeps on spending like a drunken sailor!
These are just some of the plans: (1) his 10-year, $150 billion program to "establish a green energy sector," (2) his 10-year, $60 billion "National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank," (3) his nearly universal health care plan (whose annual price tag he low-balls at $50 to $65 billion) and (4) a host of refundable tax credits ranging from $4,000 per year for college students to a tripling of the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers, Mr. Obama plans to (1) end the war in Iraq, (2) permit the Bush tax cuts to expire for households earning more than $250,000 and (3) "change our tax code," which "has been rigged by lobbyists with page after page of loopholes that benefit big corporations and the wealthiest few." Even his fans like Colin Powel are not too happy.
Colin Powell, expressed concern Friday that the president's ambitious blitz of costly initiatives may be enlarging the size of government and the federal debt too much.
"I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them," Mr. Powell said in an excerpt of an interview with CNN's John King, released by the network Friday morning.
Now with this so-called Cap and trade that was passed by the house with the support of the president has plans to cut C02. The problem is that it will cost every American household between 3,000-4,500 per year. The other problem is with this bogus idea of global warming. From New York to Arizona we have had the wettest and coldest June since 1958. I cannot stand the idea that people like Al Gore think he is bigger than God who controls what will last and what will not. I know we need to be responsible and take care of the land but not with the governments taxing everything made.
The policies of this administration will end up destroying the United States. The Democrats that have been in control since Bush was President are destroying this country. Obama has no experience on finances, foreign policy and certainly in leading a country. A community group maybe but not a country.
He has weakened us. Countries like North Korea and Iran spit in our faces. We are turning into a socialist country that will ultimately destroy us.
Here are some facts of why the Roam Empire failed. The sad part is that the United States is on the same course. Obama is facilitating in most of these downfalls. I replace the Roman Empire and some names for easy reading. This is history with facts. You can see the comparisons to the United States of today.
The United States (Roman Empire) was strong for a time. It was founded on geography, family values, military strength, and wise leadership. It flourished because of social, economic, political, military and religious strengths. However, when the very things that make a civilization flourish start to decline, the civilization will also lead to a downfall.
The first reason for the fall was economic decay. The rulers of United States (Rome) had expensive lifestyles. To aid their image, they needed money. They gained money through taxation on the poor. In response to the torment of tax collectors, the poor fled to barbaric lands. The poor made up a large percentage of the Roman population. Barbarians disrupted trade on the Mediterranean sea. Rome's gold and silver were being drained into buying luxuries from China, India, and Arabia. The government decreased the silver content in money. The value of the money also decreased. Diocletion attempted to curb the inflation. He issued an edict that fixed maximum prices and wages throughout the Empire. It was an unrealistic and unenforceable idea which failed. The emperors still felt the tax issue needed to be addressed. They decided to make the hereditary class of tax collectors pay the difference. In other words, if a poor person could not pay their full share, the tax collector paid the rest. This concept wiped out a whole class of moderately wealthy people.
Another reason for the fall of Rome was political issues. Citizens no longer displayed patriotism, they were indifferent (sound familiar). Only the rich ran for office. Only the rich could run for office. It had become too expensive to hold office.
The third and final reason for the decline of Rome was religion. Rome religion deteriorated because of conflicts between Christianity and Pagan gods. Constantine recognized Christianity as a religion. Because of him Christians wouldn't suffer persecutions for their beliefs. Rather ironically, later Christians would persecute Pagans. Nevertheless Pagans were afraid. They thought Roman gods would leave because of the Christians. For example, their environment could go into ruin. The Pagans killed Christians. After a time, both sides realized the other wasn't trying to overthrow them. Constantine legalized Christianity. Later Theodosius made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. The army didn't like Christ. Romans didn't like Christians saying that they protected Rome through prayer. Some soldiers gave up
So as you can see the United States is on the same path as the Roman Empire. They started put strong like the United States. Their political powers became corrupt which is what we have here as well. They cast our Christianity as we are doing in the United States.
Obama is not all to blame for the downfall of the United States. He is just another one that is meant to be in office to help facilitate in the destruction of the United States.
With his policies or lack of policies and his denouncing that the United States is not a Christian nation he will continue to create policy that will quickly lead to the destruction of this once great land.
In conclusion, the Roman Empire declined based upon the same factors that had caused it to flourish. It fell because the social, economic, political, military, and religion strengths were no longer viable.
As the saying goes those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it .We are on our way to following in the footsteps of a once great and old empire.

Dear Luigi,
I do not normally answer to a right wing extreme nut(noce to you), but I will make a short rebuff. The only thing Bush inherited from Clinton was a budget surplus which he blew on giving huge tax breaks to the oil companies and the rich which many blame for the current fiscal problems. Bush was the first president to exceed a one trillion dollar budget and the first to exceed a two million dollar budget. Most economists call Bush the most fiscally irresponsible president in history. Why not being the worst president in our history. You refer to Obama as one who spends like a drunken sailor. Have you forgotten the last 8 years? Have you forgottten this unecessary war which Bush started when he perceived himself as the "war president". A little spending here?
Obama has been in office for 6 months. It takes a bit longer to undo the mess of 8 years. These loans which are a spending burden at this time are for a noble purpose, that is to save a nation after 8 years of abuse.
Your association to the Roman Empire border on stupidity. this country is nothing like what the Roman Empire was and never will be. Read "The Fall of the Roman Empire" by Gibbons and educate yourself before making these foolish comparisons.
I could go on and on but I think I am talking to fool, so goodby Luigi a grande imbecille.

Mr.Bielanoski

Thank you for your comments I respect everyones opinions.
I made some statements that were my opinion but the comments on the Roman empires downfall came from an article I read on what caused their downfall.

As far has what Bus inherited:
Here is something that you can research about the recession Bush inherited: From 2004
In a recent speech, John Kerry declared, "[President Bush] inherited the strongest economy in the world — and brought it to its knees." There is no evidence to support this claim. In fact, the evidence now suggests that President Bush inherited a recession.
a key issue this election season — one which some observers believe will determine the outcome of the presidential election — is whether the recession began in the last quarter of 2000 or during the first months of the Bush presidency. Granted, even if the truth is that the recession began in the days after George W. Bush's inauguration, most reasonable people would conclude that a president cannot on a dime turn a $10 trillion economy one way or the other. However, data and supporting analyses from economists indicate that the recession began well before Bush took office, making political criticism of the president on the jobs issue even more inappropriate. I am just tired of hearing that he inherited this mess. He ran knowing that and promised to clean it up but as made it worse.

I didn't forget what Bush did and spent. I did not agree with all he and his administration did but in my opinion we are worse now than we have ever been.

As far as Obama's economic plans. They stink. His administration just keep throwing money out there, getting us further in dept. and ( a fact) creating the largest deficit of any president in our history. What happened to GM is a shame. They should have been able to file for bankruptcy all along. We gave the billions then the filed for bankruptcy and then the Union get ownership while the common stock holder got 0..It is wacky economics. In Obama's own words "US President Barack Obama has forecast his country's biggest deficit since World War II in a Budget that urges a costly overhaul of the healthcare system and would spend billions to arrest the economy's freefall." He is going crazy on spending.

This is America the free market works and has worked. Lower taxes for business works so they can hire more people and lower costs. Right now we have almost 45% of people not paying any taxes at all. Is that fair? Everyone whether you earn $1 or 1 million should pay the same amount of taxes ( % ) that is fair. Sorry to ramble I get really upset when I see what is happening.

I had criticism for Bush as well. What is happening now will not work, from the stimulus package that has done nothing to the bogus health reform they want to pass.

The one great things about all of this is that we both cannot control what any administration does we can only sit back and watch and hope that I am wrong and you are right. Not fir me or you but for our children and grandchildren

Thanks again for your comments and they are always welcome.

Dear Luigi,
Thank you for your responce, I did not expect one and it was sent with a much more civil manner than I sent to you. Lets go back to your openning lines in the paper where you stated that the Democrats had control of Congress for the last two years. My contention is that you do not have control if you do not have a veto and filabuster proof majority. They did not have this and even today with 60 Dems it assumes that you have 100% backing. Dems are not normally like this unlike the Republicans who treat their party like some sort of religion and dare not stray.
As far as John Kerry's statement, Bush did inherit the worlds strongest economy because it has always been that way even today by a wide margin. Japan is second but way behind perhaps less than half of ours according to the Economist.
Since 1797, ther have been at least 37 recessions of various durations. The most recent according to Wikipedia are:
July 81 to Nov 82
July 90 to Mar 91
Dec 2007 and ongoing
Remember that a recession is defined as two quarters of negative GDP. Not the best indicator but most widely used.
So you are upset by the latest spending binge. The first bailout came when Bush was in office and those Wallstreeters are still having a party. Scew up and still get bonuses. The latest stimulus package regardless of its faults is basically designed to put people back to work. How effctive will this be, I think it is too early to tell but I have no other solutions. I am all infavor of universal health care. Do you realize that we are the only industrialized nation not to have such a program. The monies being spent here are to help people as opposed to the monies spent by our Pentagon which has the opposite effect. We as a nation spend more on health care than any other and are the least healthy of those countries that have such plans.
Oh well, I will wait for your next artical and hope that I can offer a better rebuttle.

It's good to have a dialog on issues instead of name calling as people have done to President Bush when he was in office. The only issue with this President is that you cannot say one thing against him or he gets bent out of shape.
The good news is that people are finally seeing what he is all about. The poll numbers are sliding even below where Bush was at the same time.
The reality is this man is a radical. He has no clue on anything going on.
The first stimulus package was signed by Bush. I did not agree with that one. He caved in to the Dem's pressure to get it passed.
History tells the true story over time. As with the mess we are in today history does how that it goes back to the Dems and Clinton for the the housing mess that started this all.
As far as the health bill it might be easier to sell me if the President, congress and the the senate were to use the same plan. But it is not good enough for them so they get to choose we do not.
Here is a link to the actual bill that you can read since no one who is voting for seems to have read it including the president.
http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/07/a_peek_inside_t.html

I have no idea how anyone can what he is doing is in the best interest of the country. The stock market has been up and state run media is saying how great it is that things are getting better. When Bush was in office the the stock market went up the Libs kept yelling that only Wall street was getting rich while main street was hurting. You don;t hear that today.
I hate double standards.

I do not think we will ever agree and we don;t have to. History will prove that Obama will be one of the worst presidents in our countries history.

Look at the respect other countries have for the President>..

Thanks again for your email and as I always say I hep I am 100% wrong on Obama for my kids sake but unfortunately I am sure I am not.
